1. How many days do the seminars last and what hours?
The seminars duration is from three (3) to five (5) days depending on the subject. The arrival time at the seminar is 8:30 am with an official start at 9:00 am. There is a break for a light meal at 1:00 pm and the completion of the seminar is at 6:30 pm. There may be slight discrepancies in the times mentioned based on the flow of the program.
2. Are your seminars Demonstration or Hands on?
Our seminars are Demonstration. It is at the discretion of the guest chef to ask a volunteer participant on the counter for help on a recipe component.
3. Do I have to be a professional pastry chef or have an experience in the field to participate?
For the Advanced Level Seminars, it is recommended to be a professional pastry chef or have at least some years of experience in the field due to the complexity of the recipes. If you are just starting your career, you are an amateur or a simple lover of the industry we have the Basic Level thematic seminars for you, conducted by renowned Greek chefs. The cost is much lower, but the quality level is just as high as the Advanced Seminars!
4. In which language is the seminar? Is there interpretation in English? Is the recipe book in English?
The language of the seminar is either in the native language of the guest chef or in English. During the seminar there is simultaneous interpretation in Greek and English. The recipe book is also available in Greek or English.
5. When are the seminar program and the recipes to be presented announced?
About one month before the seminar the participants receive a newsletter with all the information!
6. Can I ask questions during the seminar?
Of course, the point is to leave with no questions unanswered! You will be informed at the beginning of the seminar about how the guest chef prefers to answer your questions (during or at the end of the day).
7. How do I apply for a seminar?
Once registrations are open, your spot can be temporarily booked through our website at mgacademy.gr or via email at info@mgacademy.gr. A 50% deposit per seminar is required for the booking to be official. Your post is officially confirmed by sending us an email with proof of deposit within three (3) business days of the booking. Any bank transfer costs are payable by the participants. Bookings are strictly in the order of priority (“first come, first served” basis). Payoff can be made in cash on the 1st day of the seminar or via a bank transfer (1) month before the start of the seminar.
8. What’s included in the price of the seminar?
The seminar’s price includes the recipe booklet with space for notes in Greek or English in printed and electronic format (PDF after the end of the seminar), a pen, a transfer bag, a chef’s apron and a certificate of attendance. The price also includes an all-day coffee station and light lunch, as well as photos with Chef and all the professional photographic material of the seminar in HD digital format. The cost of the seminar does not include travel expenses (air / boat tickets), accommodation, transportation, and other meal costs (breakfast and dinner).
9. Do I get a Certification?
Of course! Each participant receives a certificate of attendance signed by the guest chef and the director of the MGA School.
10. Do I need to bring anything with me at the seminar?
The showcase room is at 18-20 degrees Cesium during the seminar, so that preparations can be made at the right temperature. Having a lightweight jacket with you would be ideal! You can also bring your chef’s jacket if you wish to have it on during the photo-shoot of the awarding of the certificates.
11. How can I get to the seminar? Is transportation provided?
We can undertake your transportation to and from the seminar area with minivans rented specifically for this purpose. The cost of using the service is 15€ per day (transfer in the morning / return in the afternoon). The starting point is determined by the venue where the seminar is held). Participants using their own means of transport can arrive directly at the seminar at 8:30 am.
12. Can you recommend hotels close to the seminar venue?
We can! We have secured business deals with close by hotels. For suggestions do not hesitate to contact us.
13. Can I cancel my participation? Does a refund apply?
Your deposit is refunded up to sixty (60) days before the start date of the seminar. At the end of this period deposits are not refunded. In case of full payment, the difference is refunded and only the deposit is withheld.
14. Can a colleague of mine attend instead of me?
Of course! Participation may be transferred to another name free of charge with written notice up to 10 days prior to the start of the seminar. In case of change after the end of the 10 day period there is a fee of 50€.
15. Can I take pictures / videos during the seminar?
Be our guest! During the seminar, photos and short videos are allowed. Social media posts, location sharing, as well as tagging of the chef and the MGA School are also allowed (@mgacademy.gr).
16. Is there support after the seminar if I have any queries?
At any time you need support before, during or after the seminar we are at your disposal via email, phone and social media! For each seminar we also create a closed exclusive Facebook group with all participants of the seminar for support and networking and with your classmates!
17. Are there any discounts for students / unemployed people?
We do everything we can to keep our prices low compared to seminars conducted abroad; there are no special discounts for specific categories of people. However, for participation in the Advanced Seminars of 2019 there are discounts based on the total number of seminars you will attend, which are defined as follows: Three (3) to four (4) seminars = 5% discount, five (5) to six (6) Seminars = 7.5% discount, seven (7) to eight (8) seminars = 12.5% discount. The discount is calculated based on the total number of registrations and applies entirely to the last seminar you choose to participate in.
18. When do the entries open? How can I be informed to take a position?
Registrations open gradually. To be one of the firsts informed, sign up to our newsletter! After sending the newsletter, we announce the registration openings in our social media. Follow us!
18. What happens if the seminar is cancelled by the organisers?
In case of cancellation by the organisers or the guest chefs, the participants are refunded only the amount they have deposited for that respective seminar that is cancelled.
